I decided that it may be important to point out that the numbering on my favorite things has nothing to do with the importance of each item. They are merely numbered in relation to when they were posted. So, if anyone is concerned about my priorities, don't be.
This photo was taken in the Cataloochee Valley outside of Maggie Valley, NC. For those who don't know, I am a mountain girl at heart. When I go to the mountains I find the ability to relax rather quickly and just be. The art of just being is not something that I am very good at. When I am at home, I get caught up in to do lists and other engagements. In the mountains, I feel more calm and relaxed. A day can pass where I haven't accomplished anything tangible and that is OK with me. I also find myself less distracted and more aware of my surroundings.
I must admit that as a Carolina girl I feel partial to the North Carolina mountains. I have traveled west and seen the mountains in Colorado for example, but their mere size is intimidating. I like the approachable size of the mountains in North Carolina. The mountains are another one of those places that I can see a photo of and long to be there. What is your place of peace and serenity??
