Blogoversary

Today is my one year blogoversary. It seemed only fitting that I go back and read my first post today. I must say that my blog has not turned out to be quite what I hoped it would be. I take total responsibility for this. I have failed to be as honest as I had hoped for. However, parts of my life have felt way too raw and personal this year to be as forthcoming as I would have preferred. This is one of the main reasons that there have been large gaps between posts. The other thing that I struggle with, as I blog, is exposing too much of others lives as this is my forum not theirs. I also have failed to dedicate as much time here as I would like getting to know other bloggers and truly participating in their stories.

Although my blog has not met up to all my expectations I think that this is typical of me, my life, and my story. I am a perfectionist and I often find myself disappointed when things do not turn out quite the way I had imagined them. At the same time, this blogging community has been a place of inspiration, creativity, and support for me. I have had the opportunity to reconnect with some old friends and make a few new ones.

Over the next year I will strive to post more consistently, be a participate on other's blogs more often, and articulate the truth of whatever is going on. This is a huge thank-you to each of you for inspiration and support. Happy Birthday Still Life!!!

P.S. This shout out is to my friend, Kelly, as the photo above was from her son's first birthday party. He had an awesome cake.

The thing about your blog is it's all yours. Share as little or as much as you like. If you're afraid of exposing others, give them nicknames. Go anonymous. Or don't write about them at all. It's totally up to you how you continue to create and mold this space.

Happy Anniversary.
